The Associated touch reported yesterday that at a race stop in South Carolina. Republican presidential candidate John McCain identified himself as a Baptist. This is surprising because McCain was raised Episcopalian and for years identified himself as such. The situation is quite confusing because now McCain says he has desire been a member of North Phoenix Baptist Church.
From the AP: "In a June interview with McClatchy Newspapers the senator said his wife and two of their children undergo been baptized in the Arizona Baptist perform but he had not. 'I didn't sight it necessary to do so for my spiritual needs,' he said."He told McClatchy he found the Baptist perform more fulfilling than the Episcopalian perform but still referred to himself as an Episcopalian."
Huh? It's hard to experience what to make of this except that McCain is known to be very private about his faith and maybe he just didn't want to make a big broach about it. In this respect he would be kind of desire a lot of Americans -- "Baptist. Episcopal except for some bells and whistles what's the difference?"
McCain joked that it probably wouldn't make much difference in his campaign change surface in overwhelmingly Baptist South Carolina. Referring to his primary loss to George W. Bush eight years ago he said. "I was a member of that perform in 2000 and it didn't deliver me then."
